A Morning in the Life of Grant

Every morning I wake up and say "hummm, wonder what I can get into today" and this morning Mommy captured it all (well, everything that happened in 30 minutes...) She didn't get videos of how I can almost reach the door handles, how I can find every little piece of dust or how I pick at the rug to see if I can pull any stings out to eat, she also didn't get how I keep trying to open all of the drawers thinking that one day the child safety locks won't work, or how I can climb the stairs like a champ- even stopping to make sure I can't eat the wood grain.. oh well, she did seem to portray a normal morning in my life. Enjoy!

Platters&Splatters

Since there isn't a whole lot happening here at the lake and I know people feel negelected with the lack of updates I thought today might be a good day to "launch" the Platters&Splatters website.
For those of you who don't know, I love to paint pottery! So I made a little website mostly so that when people are interested I can show them what I've done... so you'll find Platters&Splatters linked on the right side of the page for all of your purusing pleasures.

Mail Update

You can start mailing to Geoff again, but only for the next week. Here is what I have heard

"Due to the movement of the Squadron and potentially a new mailing address, the Squadron asks that you stop mailing items for a brief period until the new mailing address is posted. The following are dates for each Troop that should be the last day for mailing packages. A new mailing address is expected to be posted in the middle to the end of August. The last day to mail packages are: B Troop – 01 August. Packages sent should still find the Soldier but there could be significant delays if the stop mailing date is not followed"

Swing Me!

These are a couple of pictures from our day yesterday before the storms started... Grant is in LOVE with the porch swing. He sits still (a feat in itself) and practically says weeeeee as he swings forward. The picture doesn't do it justice because hes trying to get the camera.
Not a whole lot going on here, I started painting some and have been reading my fair share of ChickLit. Grant still won't take a step even though we know he totally could. Hope all is well in your corner of the world, wherever that might be~

MASHpole Madness

Today Dad and I executed a project that he has been dreaming up for years. The side of the driveway at Heritage Point is now home to the Bartholomay MASH Pole. Included are the cities were our family lives as well as cities in which Brian and I have lived... Grant, of course, was the foreman and eagerly gave his seal of approval!

I love the 4th

4th of July at "the lake" is an amazing time, no wonder my parents plan their summers around it. We've always known about the shananagins that go on here but it has only been since my parents built a house on the lake that my grandfather went to as a boy that we've truly known the full extent of the celebrations. I guess the main difference is that PA doesn't have firework laws, scary for those who set then off, but SO much fun for the rest of the spectators. Around the lake 4 or 5 families must spend several hundred dollars each to get their stockpile for the evening. An unwritten system of taking turns setting one set off passes around the lake with everyone applauding (or in tonights case ringing cow bells?) after each set. My dad won't spend the money on fireworks but for 4 years now he has put the purchase of outdoor speakers to good use by blasting the Marine Corp Band's Oompapa music (The first -and last- is Stars & Stripes but I couldn't make a guess at the 20 in between. The Lake fills with people trying to get the best view of all of the docks firing off and its an all around good time. Today they started around 9 and at 10:30 are still going strong!
Living behind an air field has come in handy because Grant slept like a log through all of this. Hope you and your families had great days (and as Valentine said, celebrated the fact that we don't drive on the left side of the road) Geoff, we all love you and wish you could have set off some fireworks of your own tonight, but guess thats not such a great idea...

Happy 4th of July

okay, so I know this is really posted on the 3rd but the 4th of July weekend has officially started Iraq so I figured I was allowed to post this. Grant and I have made it to Lake Alden safely and survived the trip through 11 states to get here. I'll post more about our happenings here in a post later on but in honor of the 4th I wanted to share our pictures of Grant supporting our troops. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8BZMmzJw5aNy6&notag=1

it goes without saying that this fourth takes on new meaning as Geoff is away fighting for what this holiday is all about we love him and miss him terribly but love the country whose flag is worn on his arm. Happy 4th!
