Another first
It started out a typical Sunday morning, we had no idea that we would be in for another first today. Grant woke up, got changed, had a bottle, and went into his Jumperoo to play while we got started with the "post-packing" clean-up. No, we didn't have a clue that today would be the day for his first Onesie Sacrifice but it was and man will it be memorable. Sensing that he might be dirty got him out of the jumper to the changing table and quickly note that this is NOT a one woman job. Long story short I'll just say, UP TO THE BACK OF HIS NECK! So while Dad made sure he didn't roll off of the table I grabbed the scissors and said so long to the cute little fire trucks... and of course had to blog about it.

SCOOTER
We are officially in TROUBLE. Grant is MOBILE! (insert Home Alone face and scream here) ...Not crawling completely but an Army crawl he must have learned from his Dad. He loves the wood floors because he gets more bang for his buck and can slide further faster. So here he is in all of his lizard/salamander/army crawl glory.... (please ignore the Army packing, it has taken over the house)
Not bad for a kid with Pneumonia huh?!?!

Semper Gumbi
discouraging day yesterday... turns out Geoff is not going to 5-82 after all. That unit originally wanted a captain and we're told they wouldn't get one (thus why Geoff was offered the job) but someone is giving them one so Geoff stays put. {{sigh}} Thats the Army for you!

Big Changes
I know that this blog has been very Grant-centric but this post is all about Geoff. Big changes are happening in Texas! Geoff was told Thursday afternoon to go interview for another Battalion and he found out today that he got the job. (He was not expecting to as he was given a "coin" at the interview which he read as "thanks but no thanks") So Not only does Geoff leave his Platoon and Troop (something he knew was going to happen somewhere in the not so distant future) but he leaves the whole Squadron. His old Squadron was 8-10 and they reflagged as 1-9. He will now be with a Field Artillery Battalion, 5-82. ((Deployment timeline is still looking the same))
P.S. He also brought home the Army Commendation Medal today for being "Top Gun" at gunnery a few months ago (on a Bradley for which he'd never been trained!)
WAY TO GO BABE!

We're in trouble!
I was having a great IM chat with Valentine when I heard some funny noises coming from the Kid's Corner (his little alcove in the den) I leaned back from the computer to see Grant at the book shelves (always ignored up until this point) pulling toys out of the bin. As I went to take a picture he discovered something far better than silly ole toys in silly brown bins, BOOKS. Grant can pull himself up to the shelves and reach to pull out books, right now the Berstein Bears seem to be just the right size for his litle hands. Man are we in trouble. Looks like a week full of reorganizing is in our future! ....just sitting here playing... wait, whats this... I got BOOKS!

Just plain Stuck
Geoff is home, YAY. Weather is yucky, boooo. And Grant's transmission has been stuck in reverse for a few weeks now. He gets up on his hands, butt up and backwards he goes. I came back from the bathroom to find him stuck with his legs under the couch... and when you're stuck in reverse with your legs under the couch you're just plain stuck!

Love 2 Love
A super crafty friend sent me a super crafty gift for my birthday, totally made my day yesterday and I just have to share.

Here are the highlights of "25 reasons I love Ellie on her 25th Birthday".
~You let me call you Ellie when everyone else calls you Laura
~I could always count on you to be at Pi Kapp parties
~Dancing in the middle of fountains in Charleston
~Underneath that pristine exterior you just want Bojangles
~You have a hubby that loves Harry Potter as much as I do
~You videotape your infant spitting out Apricots (instead of not feeding him anymore)

March Madness
Between Duke and Davidson, Grant is learning the true meaning of "march madness" a little early. Nothing like a few close games when everythings up to the last minute to get you cheering. Grant was startled the first time, but is an old pro now (screaming at the TV like everyone else).
