LONG TIME, NO BLOG

Sorry that I have been slacking on things everybody! We've got new batteries in the camera, the house cleaned from one set of visitors and anxiously awaiting the next (friends Eric Snyder and Liz Hacker from Elon/ROTC are coming for Labor Day), we've packed away the newborn clothes -insert single tear- and have moved the 3 month clothes from the closet into the drawers... life is chugging along!

Many of you have been asking about Tiffany and Ray, so I'll fill you in on an email we got from Tiffany last week. [Ray was injured on July 11, 2007 at FOB Hammer in Iraq. He sustained a head injury with possible brain injury which will be determined thorughthis rehab stage.]
"He lost his right eye from shrapnel wounds. He had tohave surgery on his front portion of his brain and they had to remove part ofhis skull because of brain swelling but it will be replaced in 2-4 months. He had to have surgey on his liver and diaphram because he had a penetrating wound. He has been recovering better than thedoctors had anticipated. Ray and I welcomed our beautiful little girl, Alexandra Cynthia Fleig into our family on Sunday August 12, 2007 at 4:45 A.M. We were lucky that Ray was having a good day and that he got to be by my side through the entire delivery. Ray is so proud to be a new Daddy that every day that Alli comes tovisit it is his highlight of his day. We are lucky enough to be staying literally just outside the hospital door that when ray says he wants to see me it only takes me less than five minutes to walk there and get to him if the nurse calls at night."
Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers, we know that Ray is one heck of a fighter so we're keeping our fingers crossed!

Our little man (big baby)

When your baby comes out at 8 1/2 pounds you know hes a big boy... but when you got to his 2 month check up and he weighs in at a whopping 12 1/2 pounds you know you have a chunker! Heres Grant in his little man outfit, looking all studly. LOOK AT THOSE CHEEKS! Glad to know that the chipmunk gene got passed on... :o)

Whats he dreaming about?

I walked by Grant sleeping a few days ago and he was out cold with his arm up in the air. This is not an action shot, he was sleeping with his hand suspended above his belly for a good 10 minutes... I can't help but wonder whats going on in his dreams!

Hanging out

We're enjoying Tummy Time now instead of the fussiness of before!

SMILES

Grant has discovered his own laugh and it is the most glorious sound ever!

When I spit up in bed...

When I spit up in bed Dad thinks its pretty gross! He jumps up real quickly and says YUCK over and over again. Mom jokes that shes never seen Dad change the sheets before, much less get then into the laundry... I spit up in their bed this week and look what happened! I guess I was pretty messy too because Dad was going to throw me into the wash with the sheets~ silly Dad!

First Flight

Grant was a champion and secured his future as a jet setter when he took his first flight and rocked it! He slept the WHOLE way there and back, much to the delight of fellow passengers who looked a little unsettled at the idea of being seated close to a newborn. As Brian said "I would have given you the evil eye the whole time", but instead he made us look like perfect parents and here is the picture to prove it!

Some more (F)onesies

Aunt Terry came up with a new name for the Fun Onesies posts... (f)onesies or funsies! So since I missed last weeks and will probably miss this friday as well, here are two more of our funsies!

This one is a little big for Grant right now but we can't wait to show it off around base at just the right time! haha

One eyed Grant Monster

The Grant Monster is an elusive creature that has settled in the central Texas plains. Though rare the Grant Monster most commonly makes its appearances close to feeding time, and has been known to take on creatures more than 20 times its size (case in point 9 pound Grant Moster verses 200 something pound Geoff) Though I have spent weeks capturing the Grant Monster on film I recently had the fortune of spotting a creater even more elusive than the Grant Monster itself... the One-eyed Grant Monster! Geoff and I were very proud of our find...

Fun Onesie Friday

I'm stealing this from another blogging mom so please forgive the fact that our first installment of Fun Onesie Friday is actually on a Saturday! Here is Grant proclaiming is profession...

and I might add he is quite proud, he gets the oh-so-triumphant grin on his face every time he "gets us"!

UPDATES: complete with pictures

Though I am slow and it took way too long to post updates this week, Grant is still as cute as ever! --not that you were really worried right?!?-- We had a fun week and took tons of pictures to capture it (Grant is thinking "that flash is really getting old"). ENJOY!
