This great museum is in Durham and we went there a lot as kids (this was the home of many a good ole girl scout sleep over) and I decided to take Grant. The main idea was to see if he was old enough for a lot of the attractions and also for me to see how it compared to what I remember. Well, I can tell you that the train ride isn’t nearly as cool as it was back in the 80s but everything else has gone up several notches. Grants favorite part was the butterfly house. He didn’t see them at first but when a HUGE colorful one landed right in front of him, paused on a leaf for a good minute then flew around him he turned to look up. The light went on and he saw all of them fluttering around. He walked around the rest of the exhibit pointing to the ceiling and not watching where he was walking!
A close second was being able to make AS MUCH NOISE AS HE WANTED on the drums outside. It was a little trying of me to last as long as I did, big kids were running everywhere throwing their sticks and not watching who they were plowing into but Grant got in some Steel Drum practice and was a happy camper.
