Better?

Okay, I finally get it! On this computer I see what a few of you were talking about when you couldn't see the whole site on your screen... hopefully we've solved that problem (cough, cough, Atlanta folks) Let me know if there are still issues~

Flying High!

Well Geoff made it to JRTC (Joint Readiness Training Center) at Fort Polk and Grant and I survived the flights to North Carolina. We got to preboard and chose the front row where Grant proceeded to be the official welcoming party for all of the other passengers. The best comment we heard was "he just doesn't look real!" Here is our little man in action!... please ignore our snoring neighbor~

Vorarlberg goes BIG TIME

Okay, lets face it, most Austrias haven't even heard of their western most state of Vorarlberg, my home away from home in High School. Needlesstosay I was FLOORED to learned that my little town has caught the eye of some very important people. How cool is this: The new BOND movie is going to be shooting in and around Feldkirch. The "Seebuehne" (Lake Stage) is going to be the backdrop for a chase/fight scene! eeeek, I guess Geoff will be happy that I'm finally eager to see a James Bond movie!

Reflagging

Today was a fun day at Fort Hood. Geoff's unit reflagged from being the 8-10 Squadron, 4th Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division to being the 1-9 Squadron, 4th brigade of the 1st Cavalry Division. It was a fun ceremony where they "case the colors" basically retire the old flags and then "uncase" the new ones. Lots of Pomp and circumstance but we had fun... even though it was FREEZING (we woke up to a dusting of snow this morning!)
Before you strain your eyes trying to find Geoff, he wasn't there. Since the guys leave Tuesday for JRTC, he was at the rail head loading their gear onto trains.

My Playdate Mates

Today's playdate was kindof small but it was nice to have people around to weather the storm with (we had torrential down pours all morning) Here I am sharing with John and Brooke standing up behind me!

Greedy Grant

We first noticed it last week at Kindermusik, but Grant has turned into quite the hoarder! In class he gathered as many egg shakers as he could reach and held them captive between his legs (sometimes reaching so far out in front of him that his tummy and head were on the floor in front of him and his arms reaching out as far as they could go in front of him, without seeing) Then at home he was very intent on getting all 4 colored blocks into his lap. He would gather them on at a time and without fail when he got the last one there wouldn't be enough room and they would all topple over and the game would begin again. Silly silly boy!

Wonderful Weekend!

Jim and Katie (and don't forget Ruby) came for a visit this past weekend and we had a blast! Some Madden games, tummy time with the little ones, Crawfish and a whole lot of laughs. Heres a little recap:

At first Grant wasn't sure of what to make of Ruby kisses but as the weekend went on he'd squeal everytime she came into the room and laughed as she tried to get his toes.

Saturday was absolutely beautiful and we had a fun adventure to the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco. Who would have thought that a $7 zoo trip could be so good. We had a blast walking around, Grant loved the otters swimming right by him and all of the adults loved the dancing bear. We were amazed by how close visitors were to the actual animals, not much was standing between us and them (sometimes a bit scary)
I also had a blast with the new camera actually getting to use the zoom and all of the gadgets. (...so most of the pictures are my attempt at National Geographic shots) Some of the pictures to note are Jim with the Buffalo :o) and 2915 with the Bear on Geoff's reflection.

Sunday we went to InnerSpace Cavern, a huge cave in Georgetown. I had been with my Grandmother when I was little but it was quite different to go as an "adult" and it ended up being the perfect way to spend a rainy Sunday. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8BZMmzJw5aNnq&notag=1
They are off to Florida but hopefully we'll be able to do a Madison trip soon (preferably not when its in a 37 degree "heatwave")

Scoot Scoot

Today's adventure was scooting around backwards on the hardwood floors. Grant won't get up on his knees yet but he'll push up on his arms and work himself in circles backwards. We had fun slipping and sliding and scooting around...

Craziness on 24th St

Holy Moly it has been quite a morning. VP Cheney is on base today to celebrate the uncasing of colors (basically awelcome home speech) for 3 Corps. http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/google/?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20080226006227&newsLang=en
They closed the main gate and 2 of the main roads on post from 7am-1pm today which means that the East Gate (literally one block from our front door) is the entrance and exit of choice for the entire base. So far I have seen 3 wrecks, which of course makes traffic that much more bearable, and I couldn't leave the driveway even if I wanted to. Grant has been up all morning thanks to the honking and sirens. Fun times at our place!

A Day in the Park

It was finally a warm AND sunny day here and we took advantage of it by heading out to the playground.
Swings and slides and monKey bars, oh my! Here is our little monKey in action...

yes, originally I was thinking faster than I could type and said "money bars".... no, I am not missing fort knox Aunt Terry... but thanks for being my spell check! :o)
